Academy of Management Alumni Reception
On August 13, 2006, The University of Arizona Management & Organizations Department held its third annual Academy of Management Alumni Reception in conjunction with the Academy of Management meeting in Atlanta. Guests were treated to the regal elegance and southern hospitality of the City Grill in the heart of downtown Atlanta. Gloved wait staff served stuffed shrimp and grilled pancetta to several packed rooms of alumni and stellar management researchers. The rooms were filled with the talk of the latest developments in the area of management, with a particular emphasis on our own developments.
Current and former Management & Organizations faculty and students were joined by national and international colleagues from as far away as Australia and Spain. In total, more than 100 guests enjoyed delicious food and an equally satisfying open bar. By all accounts the party was a great success. For the rest of the conference, Arizona faculty received compliments from many who attended the reception, and there was a “buzz” overheard more than once about the classy Arizona reception.
Management & Organizations Department Head Stephen Gilliland is already seeking contacts in Philadelphia to help plan next year’s reception. After successful events at Pat O’Briens in New Orleans, the Royal Hawaiian “Pink Palace” Hotel in Honolulu, and City Grill in Atlanta, a high bar has been set for future events. We hope to see you next year in Philadelphia!
